Date Night Ideas {Guest Post}

When you spend all day at work or with the kids and find yourself snowed under with housework and ironing in the evenings, it's often hard to find the time to spend with your partner, especially if you have children. But making time to really connect and enjoy each others company is something that is great for your relationship - keeping it fresh and making it about both of you again and not the demands of every day life.

If you can't stretch to a romantic weekend away every so often, why not have a regular date night together instead. Choose something you always enjoyed doing when you got together, visit the cinema and watch a film without a small person interrupting every two minutes, or go back to where you first met. Anything to put the focus back on the two of you. Why not try:

Go Dancing

Perhaps you loved hitting the clubs when you were younger or are particularly good at salsa dancing. Maybe you'd even enjoy learning to dance together. It's a great way to connect, laugh together and get some exercise while you're at it. Plus it's a great excuse to buy a new party dress from ASDA George's party dresses range.

Visit the Cinema

When was the last time you watched a film the whole way through without your child interrupting because they've woken up or need the loo? Treat yourselves to a night out at the cinema, snuggle up on one of the plush sofas in the VIP section and enjoy a huge bucket of popcorn while you watch the latest blockbuster.

Do Lunch

You don't have to have a night out, you could just as easily go for lunch together to a flash restaurant while the kids are at school. Enjoy a few glasses of wine and some amazing food while chatting about anything but the housework and the children for a change.

Going Bowling

Don those hideously unfashionable bowling shoes and hit the bowling alley with your partner for a night of bowling. You don't have to go on your own, why not enjoy a night with another couple in your circle of friends? Have a little friendly competition and a meal before heading off for a nightcap on your own on your way home.

Visit a Spa

It doesn't have to be a girly spa experience as you can easily find spa packages just perfect for couples and that cater equally as well to men as they do to women. Have a relaxing couples massage then head to the steam room or sauna and relax in the jacuzzi with a glass of champagne, before having a swim in the spa pool and reclining on the water beds. The perfect way to recharge your batteries together.

Of course you don't have to go out to have a date night. The key is to spend quality time together, so ban the mobiles for the evening and watch a favourite film, play games together or treat yourselves to a takeaway. There are no hard and fast rules here, just do whatever you enjoy and make the most of it being just the two of you.
